Vernon Travers Parks, Sr. was born September 6th,1951in Baltimore, Md to the late Paul Edgar Young and Alice Marie Parks. Vernon was raised in Harford County where he attended Harford County Public School & Harford Community College.

Vernon attended Mt Calvary Church at a young age & later became a member of Gospel Tabernacle 1st Apostolic Faith Church where he was baptized in Jesus name filled with the Holy Ghost. Vernon’s favorite songs was “Jesus Dropped the Charges” This song was a personal testimony for what God had done for him. He thanked God all the time & he would always say the Lord sees everything.

Vernon worked at the Aberdeen Proving Ground for over 10 years as a cook.

Vernon enjoyed fishing, watching tv & listening to music. He loved his family but most of all he loved his grandsons. He had a special relationship with each of them. Vernon loved talking to people. He was a mentor, a great friend & an inspiration to many. He always had a story to tell about something he did or knew.

Vernon was loved by many and leaves to cherish his memory; his 2 daughters Alishia Schofield (Robert) of Havre de Grace, MD; Evangela Parks of Severn MD; 1 Son, Vernon Parks Jr. of North Carolina. 3 grandsons, William & Todd Howard, Dayron Parks; 3 Sisters, Leontine Quant & Sharon Parks both of Florida; Ontranette Parks-Thompson of Aberdeen MD; 1 sister in law, Linda Gibson and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins family and friends as well as special Friends, Shirley Twyman, Wallace Warfield; Clarence Bunn & Sharp

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents Paul Edgar Young and Alice Parks and his 4 brothers; Calvin (Butch) Day Gibson, Gregory Eugene Gibson, Sr., Paul (Vicky) Victor Parks, Edgar (Jerry) Jerome Parks & Michael Theodore Parks

Love Lives On
Those we love remain with us for love itself lives on,
and cherished memories never fade because a loved one is gone.

Joy... may you all be filled with his love and laughter in your hearts... Mr Parks was very special because he had a way of touching people with exactly that. Thanking God in all things, for the goodness that he shared and the way he used his life for those you had an opportunity to to meet him. Be Strong and Blessed in the Lord family. He will be missed but faith,hope and kingdom love will always be with you. May he rest in peace
