Ms. Ursula Jannett Cole Gregory, affectionately known as “Ursie”, age 52, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 17, 2019. She began her life in Havre De Grace, Maryland, born to “Mellie” Coleman, May 18, 1967.
Ursie is preceded in death by her beloved Great Grandmother, Ella Cole Bordley, which she cherished.
Ursie is survived by her mother, Mellie Coleman, first love, James Gregory, sisters, Celia Coleman and Shari Joyner, and brother, Donnie Beck, children, Travius, Marques, Darren, and Jasmine, grand daughters, Kailyn and Mah’loni Gregory, aunts, Constance Osborne, and Beverly Dennis, great uncle Isaac Cole, and uncle Donnie Beck, nephews, Jamar, Tavontai, and Brandon Coleman., Paulette Dennis, and a host of other cousins and friends.
Ursie was christened at St. James A.M.E. Church by Bishop John Bryant where she found her love for Christ. In her childhood years, while attending St James A.M.E. Church, she sang in the Youth Choir and she served as a Youth Usher for many years. She spent many summers in Syracuse, NY with her Uncle Pete and Cousins, Lisa and Jamie. Ursie graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1985, and married James Gregory that same year, September 23, 1985. She went on to receive her Medication Technician Certification. Ursie traveled to various cities inside and outside of the United States.
She was known as a kind, giving, and respectful person. Her door was always open to anyone who needs a place to stay. She loved cooking and would offer a plate of food to anyone who was in need. She was selfless and would give the shirt off her back or take the shoes off her feet to anyone in need. Ursie could make a friend anywhere; and she would share a laugh and a smile with anyone. In later years, she worked for the federal government doing various jobs. She also took pride in talking to and being with her granddaughters.

Ursie loved the Caribbean’s and often traveled there with her mother “Mellie”. They went to many concerts together and enjoyed each other’s company. She had plans to open a soul food restaurant with her good friend, Nannie Evelyn Young who thought of Ursie as a younger sister. Ursie recently moved back to Havre De Grace with family members, Joyce, Evelyn, and Troy Robinson II. This was her home where she truly experienced joy and happiness, because she was full committed to living her life for the Lord. She spent countless days at Word of Life Christian Fellowship, attending church services, bible study, witnessing God’s Word to others, and growing closer to the Lord and Savior.

Ursie will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Today we will not mourn her passing, but remember her kind heart and memories we have shared with her over the years.
