He was educated in the Harford County public school system graduating from Havre de Grace High School in 1980. Russell was employed by Harford Durcool for many years until joining the Harford county board of education. His first location was Joppatown High school where he was able to impact and influence the youth there then transferred to the school that stole his heart, Havre de Grace Elementary school. The daily stories he shared of his students and coworkers he came into contact with made it ever so apparent that the love he had for them, they had for him too. Russell was a hardworking man who rarely took a break. His students loved seeing him at his second job at the local dollar tree. In addition, he also had his own lawn service business.

Russell was a loving, caring man, an awesome husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was affectionately called Bo, Pop-Pop BoBo, Zeek, and Uncle Chobe.

Mr. Ronald Wooden and the entire Havre de Grace elementary school family.

In his famous words, “God Bless America!!!!”

Our hearts are never prepared for the effects of death.
This is why we must replace our grief with joy, our sadness with happiness, our thoughts of the bad times with our beautiful memories of the good times! -Amari Barnes
