Mae Goldie James departed this life on Saturday, July 27th 2019. She was born in Perryman, MD on March 1st, 1923 to the late Alexander and Hattie Christy. She was the sixth of ten children.
Mae attended Perryman Elementary School 2C2 and graduated from Havre de Grace Colored High School in Havre de Grace Maryland. After high school, she attended and graduated from Apex Beauty College in Baltimore, Maryland. She was employed at Perrypoint Veterans Hospital in Perryville, Maryland, where she retired after 30 years of service.
Mae was the matriarch of her family. She was a caring and giving person to many people. You could always count on her to visit you in the hospital with a card in hand and $20. She enjoyed driving “fast” in her Mustang, shopping, eating sweets (although she’d never admit it), and gathering with friends and family. She could always depend on Gilbert to ride around town with her. She enjoyed spending time at Tydings Memorial Park in Havre de Grace. She also loved spoiling her grand and great-grandchildren.
Mae has proceeded one child James Curtis “Jimmy” James and two husbands Medfield James and Charles Piner.
Mae leaves to cherish life and precious memories: her loving and devoted son Gilbert James; three grandchildren Nicole Lowekamp, Daniel James, and Keith James; God-daughter Michelle Christy-Vaughan; six great-grandchildren (Tamal, Jacqulyn, Kinsley, Alexander, Isabel, and Collin); two Sister-in-Laws; Marie Christy and Doris Christy, four special first cousins and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.
