Obituary for Irene V. "Vicky" Wright (Harris)

Irene Victoria “Vicky” Wright led an extraordinary life. She was born on July 8, 1964 to Phillip Harris Sr. and Patricia J. Brown in Havre de Grace Maryland. Irene gained her wings on Wednesday, November 13th, 2019 in Havre de Grace, Maryland.

As a student in the Harford County Public School System, Vicky was involved in many extracurricular activities including basketball, cheerleading, and softball. She graduated from Havre de Grace High School in 1982 and was joined in holy matrimony to Samuel Troy Wright of Albany, Georgia on October 19th, 1983. From this union, two children were born.

Irene was employed as a Financial Specialist and Classification Specialist for the Federal Government for over twenty- three years. As a member of Ames United Methodist Church, she was involved in many ministries. Irene was the choir director for the Kids for Christ choir and a member of the KRT Choir.

Also, she would often help in the church kitchen with food preparation, was involved in the Wednesday Night Prayer Group, a mentor in the Youth Mentorship Ministry, Praise Team Member, and participated in various activities in the Youth Group Ministry.

Some of her hobbies included singing and dancing, interior decorating, and ministering or counseling to anyone she saw in need. Her love for others could be seen in everything she did including volunteering her services for the annual Special Olympics.

Irene leaves to cherish her memory; a devoted husband Samuel Wright; two daughters Samara Wright-Hughes (Damian Hughes Sr.) and Candice Wright; four grandchildren Madison Hughes, Makensi Hughes, Damian Hughes Jr, and Baby Hughes #4; four brothers Phillip Harris Jr. (Donna Barnes-Harris), Kevin Harris Sr. (Dawn Harris), Douglas Harris Sr., Michael Harris; one sister Nicole Tolliver; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Francis Waldon and Mary Catherine Waldon.
